The General Contractor
Many home improvements may not require professional design services and can best be handled by an experienced contractor.
The Design/Build Contractor
Our company is a design / build contractor and will be able to see your project through from start to finish, keeping design, engineering and budget in mind.
The Architect
Major remodeling projects require construction drawings to define contracts and permit procurement. We have an in-house architect that is experienced in residential remodeling—our architect will be more sensitive to the special challenges that remodeling represents.
Think about design and function
Design and function should be foremost in your mind if you're thinking of adding a room or converting an existing room. Give thought to such details as electrical outlets, telephone jacks and cable hook-up placement; the type of lighting required; current and future storage needs; and whether you want luxury items. We can be consulted about design and function of any project; we can help with time- and money-saving tips.
Comply with local codes and permits
A building permit is generally required whenever structural work is involved or when the basic living area of a home is to be changed. We work in your area every day and will educate you on the local requirements.
A well written contract is essential
Our contract includes our name, address and phone number. It details what we will and will not do. A detailed list of all materials for the project will be in your contract, including size, color, model, brand name and product, plus include a tentative start date. We study all plans carefully with you, and insist you approve them and that they are identified in your written contract before any work begins.
All financial terms are understood and spelled out in the contract. The total price, payment schedule and any cancellation penalty is clear.
Working with professionals
Before work begins, we review what inconveniences may occur while the project is underway and plan for them accordingly. We like to be aware of vacations or special events so that we can schedule appropriately, if possible. Moving personal property from the construction site and declaring all work zones off-limits to children and pets are all part of our process.
We put all changes in writing if your remodeling project is modified while work is being done. At any phase throughout the duration of your project, you will have a clear understanding of these changes.
